“I need neither blade nor word. My mind is enough.”
Monks of the Way of the Sharp Mind are ascetics who have replaced instinct with perception, strength with will. Their ki has refined into pure mental power. They use thought to deflect attacks, read intentions, move objects, or strike without touching. Some call them “psionic monks,” others fear them as “mindcrushers.”
Training in the Sharp Mind does not focus solely on physical discipline, but on the expansion of consciousness until it transcends reality itself.
Psychic Discipline
3rd-Level Way of the Sharp Mind Feature
You have awakened the mental potential of your ki. You gain the following benefits:
- You learn the mind sliver cantrip. It counts as a monk spell for you and uses Wisdom as your spellcasting ability.
- You can communicate telepathically with any creature within 30 feet that understands at least one language.
- You can spend 1 ki point to cast detect thoughts without components. When cast this way, the spell’s duration is limited to 1 minute.
Psychic Strike
3rd-Level Way of the Sharp Mind Feature
You can infuse your martial arts with pure mental will. Once per turn, when you hit a creature with an unarmed strike or monk weapon attack, you can spend 1 ki point to deal an extra 1d6 psychic damage and force the target to make an Intelligence saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier).
On a failed save, until the start of your next turn, the target:
- Has disadvantage on Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma saving throws.
- Can’t take reactions.
The extra damage increases to 1d8 at 11th level and 1d10 at 17th level.
Reflexive Will
6th-Level Way of the Sharp Mind Feature
You can deflect attacks with instinctive foresight.
When a creature hits you with an attack that you can see, you can use your reaction and spend 1 ki point to impose disadvantage on that attack retroactively. If the attack now misses, you may immediately make a free unarmed strike against that creature.
Additionally, you have advantage on all saving throws against being charmed or frightened.
Martial Telekinesis
11th-Level Way of the Sharp Mind Feature
You have learned to manipulate reality with your mind. You can spend 2 ki points to use one of the following abilities:
- Telekinetic Strike: Make an unarmed strike against a creature within 20 feet. Use your Wisdom modifier for the attack and damage rolls. This counts as a monk weapon attack.
- Psionic Push: Choose a Medium or smaller creature within 20 feet. It must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be pushed 10 feet away and knocked prone.
- Controlled Levitation: You gain a flying speed equal to your movement speed for 1 minute, but you must remain within 5 feet of the ground.
You can use these abilities as long as you have ki points available.
Perfect Mind
17th-Level Way of the Sharp Mind Feature
Your mental will is unbreakable.
- You gain immunity to psychic damage and telepathic intrusion (such as detect thoughts, scrying, etc.).
- When you make an attack roll or saving throw and fail, you can spend 3 ki points to reroll it.
- Once per turn, when you use Psychic Strike and the target fails its saving throw, you can also inflict temporary mental confusion: the target is considered affected by the confusion spell until the end of its next turn.
