Leif Hrafn, Human Storm Sorcerer
Background: Stranded in a brutal snowstorm, Leif Hrafn—a sturdy human from the northern tundras—was pushed to his limits, surviving without food or water. Hallucinations blurred his reality until he saw a powerful figure who appeared to be Odin, offering a scrap of meat. Desperate, Leif accepted it and ate, but as he did, the visage twisted into that of Loki. The meat revealed its true form: the heart of a frost giant. This dark boon left Leif infused with primal storm magic, forever marking him as a vessel of power and chaos. Now, he wields the furious might of frost and thunder, both a blessing and a curse.
Personality Traits
- Reserved Yet Intense. Leif speaks rarely but with weight, his words often as icy and piercing as his magic. His stoic nature reflects a history of survival and quiet contemplation.
- Unyielding Resilience. Having survived the brink of death, he faces every challenge with an unwavering determination, rooted in his belief that fate is unchangeable, but one must be prepared to meet it.
- Loyal to Those Who Prove Themselves. Once someone earns his trust, Leif is fiercely loyal, seeing them almost as kin. He would weather any storm for those he respects.
Ideals
- Power Through Sacrifice. True strength, he believes, only comes from personal sacrifice and suffering. The greater the pain endured, the stronger the soul.
- Freedom from Deception. Having been deceived by Loki, Leif values honesty deeply. He is determined to live without being bound by lies or manipulation, especially from powerful beings.
- Balance in Power. Leif seeks to use his storm-granted abilities wisely, never wanting to become the monster that the frost giant’s heart threatens to make him.
Bonds
- Oath to Odin. He holds a reverence for Odin, honoring the All-Father’s wisdom, yet fears what more the gods might demand. He carries a small, carved token of Odin for guidance.
- Pledge to His Homeland. Though he left his northern village, he is tied to its harsh wilderness and feels a duty to protect his people from the threats he now faces.
- Haunted by Loki’s Gift. The frost giant’s heart within him is both a gift and a curse, forever tying him to Loki’s trickery. He searches for ways to fully understand—or even undo—its effects.
Flaws
- Mistrustful of Authority. Leif struggles to trust those in positions of power, wary of deception and manipulation, especially if they claim to be acting “for his benefit.”
- Wrathful in Battle. Once angered, Leif’s storm magic becomes hard to control. His desire for vengeance against Loki sometimes leads him to recklessly embrace the fury of his powers.
- Haunted by the Heart’s Voice. In quiet moments, he sometimes hears the whispers of the frost giant’s heart, tempting him to wield his powers destructively.
Personality and Roleplaying
Leif respects the gods, particularly Odin, yet distrusts them, having seen Loki’s trickery firsthand. He is haunted by the echo of the frost giant’s heart within him, its power a reminder of the gift and curse he carries.
Tactics
Leif is highly mobile in combat, taking advantage of Tempestuous Magic to stay elusive. He will lead with Storm Sphere or Cone of Cold, and will use Greater Invisibility to protect himself while he casts. When he is attacked, he uses Frost Giant’s Endurance and his reaction ability, Storm’s Fury, to retaliate.
